Soleus
Description
Soleus is a chair drawn from the language of
tension and anatomical resistance. Named
after the deep calf muscle that powers
upright posture and subtle propulsion, the
piece encodes the logic of muscular flexion
into its structure.
Neither passive seat nor ornamental
object, Soleus operates as a spatial device—
inviting the body into a state of readiness, a
sculptural echo of exertion made still.

About Wedge Design
Wedge is a London based design studio founded by Peiyan Zou, Andy Zhang, and Lei Zhang. The practice works across furniture, installations, and architectural systems through an experimental approach rooted in material ecology, computation, and fabrication. Their pieces are developed through binder jet printing in quartz sand, then hand finished to reveal a raw, stone like surface. The result is a sculptural design language that feels at once geological, digital, and tactile.
