Hellespont is a basin named for the mythic strait where Helle fell from the sky, a form caught mid-breach, fractured and topographic. It is not smooth and it does not resolve. Instead, it holds the energy of motion arrested, like a current turned solid. The piece reads as both tectonic model and sacrificial altar, spiked, cracked, and collapsed inward. It is less placed than embedded, a cavity of memory, event, and structure.
